VIDEOS:
The stage is set. The Plenary, Melbourne Convention Centre will be a cauldron of screams, cheers, and excitement as 45 dance crews will gather and explode on stage with their athletic skills, Hip Hop dance prowess, and leave their pride on the hardwood stage. The hype surrounding WSB is at a boiling point, feeling like a heavyweight title fight between Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore. Final preparations are in place but all eyes will be on the MC when he announces the best dance crew in the Southern Hemisphere.
Setting it all off, Hoopdreamz have gathered some of the Hip Hop dance world’s talented, experienced, and respected judges to oversee the task of finding the champion at WSB. Holding it down for Australia, one of the founding fathers of the world-class breakdance crew, WickidForce Breakers, and director of Melbourne’s Hip Hop Dance Mecca, UnitdStyles Dance Studios, Arch Ilias. His 15 years of professional dancing experience will be joined by one of Australia’s most well known and respected young female dancer/choreographer, Lizzie Wicks, representing sunny Queensland. Her inspiring passion, popularity, and professional persona will definitely add some class into the mix. The international judge contingency is headed off by Akio Kato, originally from Japan, moved to Sydney, expanded his experience, skills, and knowledge and setting up an academy, and all this while winning a few Hip Hop competitions along the way with his crew NU SKOOL CLUB. Akio will be flanked by New Zealand’s own Fale Jaye McCarthy, executive manager of Street Dance New Zealand, Youth Events coordinator, and a respected choreographer of some of New Zealand’s decorated Dance Crews, “Dream” and “Kapeesh Dance Crew” and bringing down his vast judging experience of many Hip Hop dance competitions. Rounding them off, we have a special guest straight from the USA, Emmett Agapay, who is no stranger to intense competitions from such respected Dance events like Prelude, Fusion, Vibe, Ultimate Brawl, and Body Rock. His expertise as being the Artistic Director of Studio 429 in Encinitas, California will also be an awesome addition to the mix.
An intense event not to be missed, the World Supremacy Battlegrounds 2010, in it’s 7th season is back bigger than ever and it is about to explode! Lock in your tickets soon by going to www.ticketmaster.com.au.
