On Wednesday 16th September, Northland Secondary College will be hosting the 5th Annual ‘Streetside’ Hip Hop Dance Competition. This will bring together schools and crews in the Melbourne all vying for the crown of best street style crew and competing for very generous cash prizes and perpetual trophies.
Along side this will be performances from professional dance crews including B.C Fam (leading Australian Krump Crew), Detour Dance Company (Australia’s freshest Commercial dance crew -Finalist Looze Control Hip Hop Comp, 4th at Get Krump’d Hip Hop Champs) and Pop (Melbourne’s own Popping crew). DJ Pumba will also be spinning the latest beats for the 2 on 2 Freestyle Hip Hop, Break and Krump battles!
Held at Northland Secondary College, the leading Dance Provider, the college has become the largest provider of Certificate Dance courses in Victoria, in 2008 Northland was the first High School to run a full-time Dance course- the Certificate IV in Dance (Teaching & Management) and in response to demand Northland will start another full-time dance course in 2010 Certificate IV in Dance (Performance).
‘Streetside ‘will also feature a 3 on 3 basketball comp, street art, stalls and a special appearance by the Red Bull Wiings Team, giving all participants free Red Bull to get them through the day!

No this comp did NOT get cancelled, come down and support school crews, Jay from Jigsaw sneakers entered when he was back in school!! As did Rob from Detour..this is where it all begins nuturing young talent and giving them an opportunity to perform and compete in amateur comps before they have to go into the Open sections of semi -proff comps.
