Heat 1 of RAW Sounds and RAW on the Dancefloor kicked off the start of the year with great success, entertaining a capacity crowd tonight. ‘Undefined’ were crowned champions of the dance category amidst a closely-knit contest of new and upcoming crews. Footage will be up tomorrow so keep checking back!

Many thanks to Vikings dance crew and Liz Honey Promotions for running the event and for their committment and generosity to the scene over the years.

Special mention goes to the raising of funds for Mack’s son. Zion was born blind and funds are being raised to help provide treatment for him in 2011.

RAW on the dancefloor is set to jump-start the Melbourne RnB/Hip-Hop dance scene in 2009.  It is happening on Saturday 28 February 2009, at the Collingwood Town Hall.  The event will be hosted by the ViKiNGs dance crew (www.vikingsdance.com) – who have paid their dues and given a lot back to the RnB/Hip-Hop dance scene.

RAW on the Dancefloor is the original RAW event – by the dancers, for the dancers.  This is aimed at giving the freshest new & up-n-coming RnB/Hip-Hop dance crews a springboard for their future success, in a supportive, fun event.

RAW Sounds teams aspiring vocalists up with the freshest dance crews and gives them the challenge of collaborating on a unique RnB/Hip-Hop sing + dance showcase.  RAW Sounds 2009 Heat 1 (for solo vocalists only) will be held as part of this RAW event.

This event will also feature showcases by top Melbourne’s dance crews including DVP, The Collective & of course ViKiNGs.

Tickets to the event are only $20 pre-paid, and crews entering RAW can cover their costs from our generous commission on ticket sales, which goes up to $5 per ticket!

Prizes:
1st – $1000 + engraved trophy
2nd – $500 in cash and prizes + engraved trophy
3rd – $200 in cash and prizes + engraved trophy
